BackPack.NET is a collaborative initiative by the Infocomm Development
Authority of Singapore (IDA), Microsoft Singapore and our schools.
It marks the convergence of three key thrusts in education in
Singapore: the use of information technology for engaged learning,
the deepening of school-business collaboration and, most broadly,
the nurturing of a culture of innovation and enterprise across
the education system. The Backpack.NET initiative is part of
a five-year undertaking that will drive the testing, development,
research and showcasing of innovative infocomm technologies
in education.

The Programme for School-based Excellence applies to primary
schools. Launched in Jan 2005, the programme will better support
schools with strong niche programmes that will benefit their
