EAS As Partners in Education

How can e-Ones and our Executive and Administrative Staff (EAS), as partners in education, help to achieve MOE’s strategic objectives? This topic sparked intensive discussions amongst the 465 Division I EAS at the fourth e-One Learning Forum held on 27 September 2005 at the SAFRA Yishun Country Club.

Organised by Personnel Division, the annual e-One Learning Forum serves as a platform for the Division I EAS, also known as e-Ones, to interact, share ideas and engage in dialogue on the Ministry's strategic directions and initiatives. This year’s theme, “Enabling Schools: Partners in Education”, was in line with one of the key emphases in MOE’s 2005 Workplan Seminar: “Achieving Quality: Bottom-Up Initiatives, Top-Down Support”.

Help Deliver Quality Education to Learners

At the forum, Guest-of-Honour Mrs Tan Ching Yee, Second Permanent Secretary for Education, encouraged the participants to continue to work in active partnership with the Education Officers (EOs) to deliver quality education to our learners. She also updated participants on the various initiatives to support the e-Ones’ professional and career development. Mr Michael A Podolinsky, an international speaker on people development, shared useful tips on how they could manage changes and motivate their staff to proactively work as a team with the teaching staff. At the subsequent breakout discussions, the e-Ones showed that they had great ideas about how the EAS could enable the schools and lend better support to their teaching counterparts.

Many participants responded positively to this year’s e-One Learning Forum. They found the speakers engaging, and picked up useful tips on staff motivation which they could apply at work. One participant commented that “it was great to know that EAS are important to MOE”. Another remarked that “it was a good and entertaining forum with helpful and practical takeaways”. It was no wonder that they looked forward to attending next year’s forum.
