Celebrating The Teacher
Being a teacher is like taking a journey - a journey with many milestones . In this issue of Contact, we trace the steps in this journey and celebrate a few of the milestones. To all our readers who are educators, Happy Teachers’ Day! Enjoy the journey.

“The principle goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done - men who are creative, inventive and discoverers.”

DIRECTOR-GENERAL of Education, Miss Seah Jiak Choo, began her message at the MOE Teachers’ Day Celebrations with this quote from Jean Piaget. This, she said, is what we are striving to do as members of the Education Service — “to nurture a future generation with diverse talents through inculcating in them the spirit of innovation and enterprise.”

She strongly urged all teachers and officers at MOE HQ to make the time and effort to develop their own passions and strive to achieve their own personal goals in life. This will, in turn, enable them to bring a new vigour to their role in inspiring students.

Dressed in bright, multicoloured outfits, these pupils from Radin Mas Primary delighted the audience with their line dance item, “Calypso Party”.
Spirits were high as officers gathered at the courtyard for the MOE Teachers’ Day Celebrations.
Miss Seah was guest of honour at the event.
