| Schools around the island
celebrated Singapore’s 39th birthday on Friday, 6 August 2004,
in myriad ways. Here is a sampling of the colour and cheer. |
|
Yo! Yo! What do you hear?
Singapore’s our country ever so dear!
Let’s give her now, a wonderful cheer!
S-I-N-G-A-P-O-R-E
S-I-N-G-A-P-O-R-E
Oh…Singapore! Yeah!
THIS CHEER was specially composed by
Chongzheng Primary’s music teachers as a joyous tribute
to Singapore. Dressed in their best red and white ensemble,
pupils, staff and parents of Chongzheng celebrated the
nation’s birthday with one voice. |

AMONG THE activities lined up at Dunman
High School was face painting. Friends helped to
paint each other’s faces, as a reminder that we
cannot do it alone. Just as one cannot simply rub
paint on your face and expect to come out looking
gorgeous, it is only through teamwork and cohesion
among all Singaporeans that success can be achieved.

PRESBYTERIAN High School decided to celebrate
National Day differently this year, so the whole school
trooped down to historic Fort Canning Park to relive how
Singapore achieved nationhood. They also worked together
to make 10,000 flowers from recycled plastic bags, which
they used to form a gigantic national flag. |

LOVE FOR the school and the nation was
the theme of Telok Kurau Primary’s National Day
celebrations. To mark the event, the school launched
a “Tapestry of Values” - a patchwork of designs
created by the parents, pupils and teachers, which
expressed their feelings and thoughts about what
the school values mean to them. |

AT ZHENGHUA Primary School, the pupils put up
a dramatic musical presentation entitled “Recollections”.
The 20-minute performance served to deepen appreciation
of our nation’s struggles and achievements, and invoked
strong feelings of patriotism. |
