The Cyber Wellness Framework

The Cyber Wellness Framework guides schools in planning for a cyber wellness programme.

The Framework focuses on developing the child’s instinct to protect himself and empower him to take responsibility for his own well-being in cyberspace. Thus, this framework highlights two principles to guide pupils in their actions, describes a 3-step process to explore cyber wellness issues and encourages schools to partner parents in promoting cyber wellness among pupils.

Support for Schools

Two starter kits, one for primary schools and one for secondary schools have been developed to support schools in their implementation. These kits focus on the key challenges of the cyberworld, and are designed in the form of lesson plans on key cyber wellness topics. The lesson plans in the kits are not intended to be definitive and all-encompassing, as they are meant to support the ongoing efforts of schools. Schools are free to evolve their own programmes while keeping in mind the key principles of the cyber wellness framework.

For further clarifications on Cyber Wellness, please email to MOE_ITED@moe.gov.sg

Cyber Wellness Guidebooks in PowerPoint Slides

Two cyber wellness guidebooks have been published to support schools’ efforts in helping students to acquire safe and responsible online behaviours. The Smart Surfers is suitable for primary school students and The Netwise CyberTeens is suitable for secondary school students. The books provide useful information and learning points for students when they enter cyberspace. Presented in the form of stories and illustrated using comics to engage the students, these guidebooks cover key challenges in the cyberspace such as games addiction, copyrights and dangers with cyber contacts. There are also questions at the end of each story to help our students think and reflect on what they have learnt.

The stories in the guidebooks are now available in PowerPoint slides:
