(a)

This application form is for RS (a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident) who is not on the Leave of Absence Scheme and seeking Ministry's assistance to be admitted to primary or secondary schools.

(b)

RS who are on Leave of Absence Scheme would already have a place in a school of their choice guaranteed for them and hence do not have to complete this application form.

(c)

This application form should be submitted to MOE not earlier than 3 months before the intended date of starting school in Singapore.

(d)

RS may wish to preview the Singapore school term for 2006/2007 to plan their children’s date of starting in our schools. For other FAQs on school application, please click on FAQs-Pri or FAQs-Sec.

(e)

Upon receiving your school application form, MOE would take approximately 14 working days to confirm the school place for your child.

(f)

MOE school placement process

Primary School

i.

MOE would offer the RS a place in a primary school nearest to their home with vacancies at the level appropriate to their age cohort. RS do not have to sit for any placement test for admission to primary schools. However, the school may conduct assessment tests after admission to determine the level suitable for the RS.

ii.

MOE will identify the nearest school with vacancy based on the residential address indicated in the parent’s NRIC. If a permanent Singapore address is not available at the point of this application, the applicant is requested to provide an address of the intended residence upon returning to Singapore to facilitate the school placement.

Secondary School

i.

MOE will place the RS child in the secondary school subject to availability of a vacancy in the school and the child meets the school's placement test requirements.

ii.

RS seeking admission to secondary schools may be required to sit for assessment tests. The tests are conducted by the schools to assess the children's suitability for admission to the level, stream and class which the children are seeking admission to.
